Students at Schor Middle School celebrated the Week of Respect, Oct. 5-9, with upbeat music and encouraging messages, as well as classroom lessons focused on strengthening the school’s culture of kindness!

Students acted as greeters on Oct. 5 to welcome their classmates into school, while staff members offered high-fives. Balloons, posters, and banners decorated the entrance, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Staff and students also wore blue and gold as the school took the New Jersey State Government's pledge to become a Blue and Gold School, which promotes inclusion and discourages bullying.

Throughout the week, school counselors Uma Patel and Nancy Arvizzigno visited classrooms to conduct lessons focused on Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying. Students worked collaboratively in small groups to brainstorm ways to strengthen the culture of kindness and respect at Schor.

Sixth-grade students who demonstrated exceptional kindness and respect toward their peers were recognized with special shout-outs, certificates, and prizes. Daily morning announcements reinforced the importance of treating others with dignity and respect.
