8th graders in Michael Simko’s social studies class at Schor Middle School showed great creativity in designing activities to teach classmates about ancient Japan! Among the student projects were painting and molding Shinto shrines, decorating Samurai helmets, and comparing the U.S. Constitution with Japan's post-war constitution. Students researched topics including the rise of Shogun, Shinto religion, Japanese economy and culture, and early Japanese government to give them a base of knowledge for their ingenious projects.
